Why feed your dog raw?
I’ve been feeding my dogs raw food for years, even before the Internet made it easy to find information. Back then, I had to scour libraries and rely on dog training friends to learn about it. I wanted a more natural, healthier alternative for my dogs.
If you’re already spending time training your dogs, why not invest a few extra minutes in their diet? The dog food industry thrives on convenience, but your dog’s health shouldn’t be compromised for ease.
The problem with kibble
Dry dog food, or kibble, is made through a process called extrusion, which uses high temperature and pressure. While it starts with quality ingredients, the end product loses much of its nutritional value. This could explain why your dog might prefer chewing on your shoes—they taste better than kibble!
Extrusion limits the ingredients used. Carbohydrates turn crunchy, but high-protein foods disintegrate. As a result, kibble often lacks the quality protein your dog needs.

The health risks
Feeding kibble long-term can lead to health issues. Many common conditions seen at vet clinics, such as allergies, skin problems, ear infections, digestive issues, obesity, and emaciation, are often linked to poor-quality kibble.
Is your dog suffering from “allergies”? There is a particularly good chance that your dog may be suffering from Leaky Gut. Leaky Gut Syndrome is a term used to describe an increase in permeability of the intestines, which allows unwanted substances (free radicals) through the wall of the gut which then enter the bloodstream causing itchy skin, discharge from the eyes, licking of the paws, and even hot spots.
The natural solution
When your dog is sick, vets often recommend boiled chicken, rice, and raw vegetables because they are easier on their system. So why not feed them what always makes them feel better?
Switch to raw dog food and see the difference in your dog’s health and happiness. It is a small change that can lead to big benefits.
